Welcome to the Eleventh Annual Hot Air Music Festival. HAMF is a student-organized new music marathon that focuses on world premieres and collaborations by young composers and performers as well as music written in the past 50 years.

Types of music and ensemble types include instrumental solos and ensembles, electronic media (featured primarily in session 2), and mixed performance medias, culminating in a performance of “URSA: an interstellar cantata,” created and performed by L.A. Signal Lab.

Other prominent performances include the Friction Quartet, Helia Music Collective, Keyed Kontraptions, The Dirty Snacks Ensemble, Liminal Space Ensemble, and Mobius Trio.

This Year’S Lineup Is Divided Into Four Sessions:

Say “Da” and take a trip to Russia without leaving the Bay Area at the annual Russian Festival, a celebration of Russian food, dance, music and art.

Come celebrate the 32nd year of Russian festivities. Enjoy all the flavor and fun of the Russian-American experience in one wild weekend. Sample piroshki, borsch, pelmeni and the ever popular flavored vodkas.

The three-day performance spectacular will transport your spirit to Russia of old with ballads, folk songs, ballet, folk dance, and much more; featuring such popular groups as the Slavyanka Russian Chorus, the San Francisco Balalaika Ensemble, Konevets quartet from St. Petersburg, Russia, local favorites Nikolai Massenkoff-world renowned bass, Natalia Borisova’s Russian Collection, Russian Center Dancers, Vladimir Riazantsev, and the Firebird Dance Ensemble.

Be sure not to miss the historic treasures in the Museum of Russian Culture, and delight in the fantastic Art Gallery to peruse or purchase originals by our own local Russian artists. Face painting and crafts for the kids, Pick up souvenirs like Russian scarves, Baltic amber, lacquer boxes and matryoshka dolls.

PIER 39’s iconic floral festival, Tulipmania, returns from February 8 – 17 with more than 39,000 blooming tulips and other seasonal garden favorites! Enjoy the flowers’ beauty and learn helpful gardening tips by taking free guided tours led by PIER 39’s Landscaping experts.  Tours will begin in the Entrance Plaza each morning at 10 a.m.  At the conclusion of each tour, participants will be treated to a free bag of six (6) mini donuts and one (1) small cup of coffee from Trish’s Mini Donuts. Self-guided tours can also be taken any time during Tulipmania and will be available for download soon.  The tulips typically begin blooming in early February and will last through mid-March (weather dependent).
